Hey everyone!! I'm currently a freshman and really confused about what to take this quarter. Right now, I'm signed up for LS1, CHEM, ENGLISH COMP, AND STATS 13. I'm keeping Chem 14b for sure, but I'm confused about LS and Stats 13.

For Stats 13:
I heard taking it with Dinov is not a good idea and I have him this quarter. Besides having to type up the homeworks, what else is bad about this prof? He told us today there's going to be some Final Paper and not a final exam..can someone tell me how that works and how his grading is?

For Life Science 1:
People are telling me Halpin's midterms/finals are hard because you might misinterpret the question and they're very obscure...What should I do..wait for Pires to teach it????

i got a B/B- on both midterms and an A on the final for an A- overall, so i would say its very likely to get an A.

she is pretty stupid imo. she just reads straight off her slides. you dont really need to take notes…you can either follow on the slides or just listen and look at the slides later. while she says that you need to read, for our class at least, she actually only put one book question on each midterm (a totally random question) and none on the final. the book is alright, though, and its an easy read.

as you said, some of her questions can be confusing, but only for multiple choice…there arent that many confusing ones either.

so yea, just stick with her. youll be fine. make sure for the first midterm you memorize the dinosaur to bird evolution. i didnt realize we had to memorize it and totally messed up the short answer for it. for the second midterm, just read the essay questions closely. i misunderstood one of them and got it totally wrong.
