ahh senior grades!!

"We have received your first semester grades of your senior year and
noticed a significant decline from your junior year. If you had
extenuating circumstances that affected your grades, please share them
via e-mail as soon as possible in order for the admission committee to
take them in consideration as we begin to meet. Thank you."

ok i got this email from university of richmond recentely, and i kind of expected it nonetheless. However i feel that i have a legitimate response and am going to send them the info soon. My question is do you think i have a good chance of gettin in after sending them a legitimate letter detailing my extenuating circumstance? i think the fact that they sent me this is that maybe they thought of accepting me, or is that not so? do they send this to every student with significant decline in senior grades? thanks.

It probably depends on your response and just how much your grades slipped. I imagine that they send the letter it to every student with a significant decline in grades.

Its nice of them to send the letter. If you have a valid reason, they won't hold it against you.

No matter what it was, don't make it sound like an excuse and try to work in what you learned from the experience, how you grew as a person, etc.

ok thanks guys, i might post my letter to get some feedback on whether it sounds like excuses or such, till then later..
