ahh!

Ok so i checked my status again for my UF apllication and i noticed that they had my ACT score (which i dont remember sending lol, but maybe i did idk). I NEVER wanted to show anyone that ACT. I just wanted them to see my SAT which was 1270 =/. But now they are going to see my 24! I took the Act very carelessly (stupid mistake) and i really dont want them to base their desicion using that score. Do they tend to ignore everythig and only use your highest score, whether it be SAT or ACT, or will this ACT score hurt my chances?

Fares,
thelover is pulling your chain. SAT has ruled in Florida for years, with ACT recently even becoming accepted.
As for what happened, you agreed to release that ACT score in the fine print next to that last check box you clicked before finishing up your online app. Pretty sneaky, huh?
The blog post below will explain what happened to you

yea those scores are extremely low, I think it hurts your chances to the max.

thanks alot imdamom, good to know

FYI: in Florida, 2007, 81000 took ACT--98000 took SAT

ok so i'm guessing from your responses that no matter what they will still factor in my ACT score in there desicion process? they dont pick the best score like some schools do?

Okay, I can say that from PERSONALLY asking the admissions director at UF:
-yes, UF is able to see all your scores (they have some database)... even if you don't send them!
-BUT the only score used in admissions is the highest of all scores.

Example: you get a 20 ACT and 1200 SAT and then take the SAT again and get a 1400...
UF would see all the scores but the only one that would matter in the decision is the 1400 SAT.

The director even encouraged "focusing" on one particular section during the test even if the other sections would suffer.

Example:
SAT #1 verbal = 300, math = 700
SAT #2 verbal = 700, math = 300

in UF's eyes you have a 1400 SAT score and the 2 300's you got WILL NOT hurt you AT ALL!

hope this helps.

it does help =), thanks everyone

i called UF admissions cuz i had the same problem and they said they will look at the most competive one so they do take the higher of the two. they want you to look as best as you can they arent out to get you so all the people preaching on this thread about how it hurts you are wrong
