Stop fretting. Unlike at H, not being interviewed does not affect admissions at P.

I would not want to be interviewed at Harvard---looking at their forum, I saw some horror stories of obnoxious and anal interviewers. I'm not applying to Harvard anyway, I think.

To answer zz:

P Adm Office told you the right info, don't worry.
Interviews are assigned by Regional Directors; if there is a shortage of alum volunteers, perhaps not all applicants will get an offer to interview.
Sorry, you can't call an alum directly.

Thank you for all of your advice.
I ended up not having an interview,, well, I will be just waiting until the decision date

Do you think not having an interview will negatively affect your chances? did the adcoms ever say?

Nope, I dont think it will. They cant interview everybody, so in every class there will be some who wont be interviewed. It's not a negative thing, it's just a result of a pragmatic process.

Update: I just had a phone interview with the director of the alumni association in my area. She was really nice and I think the interview went well. Lol it was really unexpected, but I'm glad I finally got one!

And she said she expected decisions to come out the week of the 20th. I'm not sure how up-to-date her knowledge is, though...

actually, there is a girl in my class that had her interview this afternoon! I was surprised how late it was (and past the deadline)

Well,,,,, more surprisingly,, I have actually got contacted by an interviewer this week and we are having one tomorrow!!
I heard the FINAL dead line is 12/8.
But I was not prepared for this at all because I thought it was all too late..
I am very very nervous!!

Yea, I was really surprised to get contacted this late. Apparently someone was supposed to get in contact with me, but, for whatever reason, that didn't happen. I hope they haven't already made a decision about me (or if they have, it's a good one :p)

When did most people have their interviews? I had mine 11/6, and it felt like I was the only one at school that had one so early.

haha, it feels really wierd having interview as well b/c I feel like they have already made decision and everything.. :(

I know exactly how you feel, zzibuya. Are you having one on the phone, or in person? Mine was on the phone, and apart from the awkwardness of her phone dying (yes, it happened lol) and the occasional time where she and I would say something at the same time, it was fine.

Hmm, okay, the wierd thing is, according to princetonreview.com, interviews are "not considered" a part of the admissions decisions. (but then again, how accurate is PR?)

for all of you who's not getting an interview: is it because you turned in your application at the last minute?

I had my application "completed" near the end of November (mailed it Nov 1, had to get 2nd rec faxed to ensure it arrived), and still had an interview.

what?!?!?!!

^lol but there's no place that we indicate that...
except maybe for in essays

I was careful not to get too involved in religion when I was writing about my Mission Trip. But I doubt they would penalize you just based on religious affliation. I'd say a large portion of all applicants is religious to some extent.

they do not PENALIZE you for having a religion. They consider the COMMITMENT to that religion.....lol. They have this policy not to discriminate because of an applicants religious beliefs.
