sorry that this is another one of those college VS. college posts cuz I just can't seem to make up my mind.

1) Is UCLA really that much MORE prestigious than NYU?
2) Is having debt for a dream school worth it?
3) Is NYU's Steinhardt's program Communication prestigious/worth to attend for money it costs...

um...

yea..basically
its UCLA VS NYU...

p.s i'm from South Pasadena...like forty minutes away from UCLA...

Sorry but this isn't even close. UCLA all the way. You're a Cali resident, so UCLA would be SO much less in terms of $ than NYU. So no, having debt isnt worth it when you were accepted into an awesome school like UCLA at a much more affordable price.

UCLA, with the exception of Stern, is more prestigious than NYU but not by much. I don't see how you can even consider NYU unless you ABSOLUTELY must go there and fulfill your "dream".

Go to UCLA if you aren't super-NYU obsessed and insane.

UCLA just because it will be really cheap for you compared to NYU, and they are about the same prestige was, with UCLA being maybe a little better overall.

More prestigious. NYU is a bit overrated. You have 40 years of city living to do if you want it but only 4 years of your life will be at the same level of peer interaction and campus-feel that you will get at Ugrad.

You are basically giving up money, a bit of prestige, and you will be missing the traditional campus/college environment (no, Grad school is not the same).

If you want to give these things up then it is your choice but that is why I recommended you REALLY love NYU in order to do so.
