I just received a Brown account activation in the mail and I opened up my account and one of my rec letters has not arrived.

I gave my teachers the rec letters for brown in late november because I had not known I was going to apply to Brown until recently. I received confirmation that both were sent in.

So i know that the 2nd arrived, but the 1st hasn’t. I know that he sent out the letter so it looks like it got lost in the mail!

What do I do? I just emailed the admissions office but they probably won’t read emails until after Tuesday and my winter break ends about 3 or 4 days after the deadline!

Would they accept a copy of the rec letter to be sent after the deadline? I can get an envelope ready to give to my teacher the first day we get back and he can send it the same day because he’s just making a copy of my other rec letters for other schools.

mmm, mine hasn't arrived and i sent my stuff late november. i'm worried as well. but another poster said that it can take up to 6 weeks to process your materials. is that true?

You guys must be applying RD because the EDs are all done. Don't panic. One of the reasons there is so much time between the deadlines and the decisions is that the committee gathers all the info and lets the applicants know what, if anything, is missing. If all of the stuff YOU had to send is on time, that's fine. They know that teachers are busy and they extend the courtesy of allowing the school stuff (semester grades, rec letters, scores) to be a little late. Don't worry! Chances are they have the letters and they are still processing all the papers they get. If they find they are missing things from your files, they will let you know probably by email. However, if the files are still listed as incomplete by the end of January, say, you can call/email them.
