I agree, dude. The more I read about columbia, the more I love.
My deepest condolence. wish you the best of luck on your other schools.

you can always try to transfer. But what's done is done, there's no point worrying about why columbia was perfect, it wasn't my top choice when i applied, and the fact is, that most people don't get into their top school. a good school will figure out that you fit them and accept you, then you'll choose the school that you fit best (hopefully) and you'll like it, hopefully it'll grow on you like columbia has grown on me, liking a school is a lot about what you do while you're there, and how much you make of it.

@shadow: no need to put down a thread because it makes you nervous, chill out and enjoy senior slump.

I'm gonna have to agree with the language issue. You expect people to type considerate responses to your issue then at least have the decency of doing the same. Not being a typo nazi but this is like going out of your way to write in an annoying manner. (An extra 'd' at the end of sad? Really?)

I feel you pain, but I don't agree with the curriculum statement.

I'm definitely a supporter of the open curriculum over the core curriculum when it comes to educational philosophy. But I still like Columbia for other reasons.

^i was talking about kids who apply to top colleges, and it goes down more than a bit, almost all schools accept less than 50% of the class ED, and even those who apply to places ED might have wanted to go to better schools, but settling for what they realistically have a shot at. only a few kids get into their top choice school RD.

I spent the summer of '07 at the Columbia HS program, and it was really amazing. I'm definitely not getting in with my mediocre grades and scores, so my dreams were shot too. You're not the only one. My ultimate dream school was Cornell though, and they rejected me ED. It's not the end of the world, you'll find another school you'll come to love.

70% of applicants get into their first-choice school

or something like that...

but if ur first-choice is an ivy league that percentage prob goes down a bit lol

99% of dudes probably get a "yes" to the first marriage proposal they make. But for dudes that would go up to a Gisele or Heidi off the street and ask them to marry them, their percentage probably goes down.

Very true. Columbia was great for me and I have no regrets whatsoever, but I'm confident that I could have had a great college experience at a handful of other schools. Kids on here need to realize that life isn't completely path-dependent and that there are multiple ways you can get to where you want to be.

i understand the frustration that comes with getting rejected and alot of kids swear that they will try to transfer to their top choice after they get rejected but then spend a year at the college they ended up going to, end up loving it and completely forget that they ever wanted to transfer. happens all the time

Columbia2002, will you marry me?

Yea, and you can also end up loving the school you're in and still decide to transfer--like a good friend of mine did.

You'll be alright. rejection sucks--but believe me, when you decide to go to another school, you'll end up loving it, and the sound of it, and being somewhat happy that you got rejected from C. Happened to me with Y.

^^^Holy mother of god heygirlhey, i just peed a little.

Maybe columbia rejected you because upon reviewing your application they realized that, far from being the well-spoken and educated applicant they seek, you are actually illiterate? Just a thought.
