ARE ALL POST OFFICES CLOSED ON JAN 1st?!!

It is a public holiday, dear.

ahhh i totally overlooked that! im such an idiot!
i thought it would at least be open for a couple hours!! or something!!
wait what about all the other people who were planning to mail it out tomorrow?

I don't know exactly what you need to send but if you've sent Part I in online then you can send Part II online as well...sorry, I hope it goes okay. Maybe you can try UPS or something like that if all else fails?

well i have prepared everything by paper, b/c unless the university requests it online i find it more personal by paper.. but i guess i have no choice now but doing everything online. it doesnt make sense though! theres no way i can get anything postmarked tomorrow?!!

Option 1: If you haven't sent in anything, then do it online.

Option 2: If you have sent in some and it doesn't want you to do it online, you can wait and know that you sent in some by the deadline. They won't reject many 100's who don't turn it that day because of postage.

Option 3: If you sent some it, do the rest online, even if it is redundant. They can only enter the info in once.

Option 4: Fax it. Now this may not be a guaranteed route to the office, but you can timestamp it to show it was on time.

I am sure that there are many more ideas. You WILL be Ok, just take a deep breath and count to three.

what if i do part I online, and then send in part II on jan 2nd? i don't want to take any chances though. id rather it be less personal and just do it online then having them not accept it all.
has anyone ever heard of a university not accepting someones application b/c it wasnt postmarked on time??

i know for a fact that my teachers sent out my recs a while back..

This is what happens when you wait until the last minute, man. I suggest you do it all online. Doesn't take much time, you can make sure you have everything, and it will reach on time.

Don't worry about it being less personal, in the thousands of apps they recieve one being handwritten instead of online won't make a difference...

I would really, really suggest sending it in online. Better safe than sorry. Since you haven't sent in the 1st Form you can still do the online way.

And if anything, an online application would be a little better, I would think. Easier for them to read. I mean, even having the nicest writing in the world doesn't mean that it's always 100% easy to read. The only thing that you might have issue with by sending it online is the optional photo - that is, if you're even sending it. I'm not because I don't have a scanner or anything but even if I did I don't know that I would send it since it's pretty stupid of them to ask for it...in my personal uneducated opinion. ;)

At one of those talks with the admissions officers some guy said that their prime minister had died and so all the post offices were closed, so the officer said that faxing stuff over would be fine.
But that was Penn, I don't know about Brown, but it should be the same right?

thank you every1 for all your tips
i ended up submitting part 1 (forms 1&1A) online and submitting the payment too
it wasnt that bad, and i was acutally impressed by its effectiveness,

anyways, so now my only problem is that my answers to the open ended statements are wayy over the limits and the online form 3&3A are really problematic in that sense.
so in this situation, simply sending it by reg mail would be a lifesaver, only theres no way i can get it postmarked by jan 1st.
any suggestions -- what to do?

alot of you are saying fax, but i feel like thats too risky considering theres no one to talk to and also theres a big chance that not everything will be transmitted and stuff will be lost etc. so i guess that would be a last resort..

bythe way, anonymous220,
do you know what country that was? just out of curiosity.. :)

dkg44:
I think I remember seeing another post that detailed the use of the US Postal Service online. You can sign up and even print your mailing labels. That way it would show a post mark of today. I've never utilized this but it's worth a try.

I'm sorry dkg44, I have no idea. This was about a month ago, just before the early decision deadline if that's any help.
