Is this AI Measurement useful at all, do colleges use it? And if so which ones? And do variations within a rank (x out of 9) matter? Thanks. (And since it doesnt factor in writing I'm guessing - count it as an SAT2 if it's one of your top 3?)

No....it is like a bad indicator. It can't tell you all the intangibles.

Only to CALCRUZER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol suze.^

Well I was kinda asking does the AI mean anything Academically? Do they benchmark you with it or not really?

What would be a good AI for Harvard?

The academic index is solely based on your SAT I/II scores and rank/gpa (hence the name academic). As glucose101 said, it does not cover the intangibles such as essays/ec's/rec's/etc...

Read what I wrote at least:

"Well I was kinda asking does the AI mean anything Academically? Do they benchmark you with it or not really?"

I was asking do Ivy Leagues use it to gauge you academically? In A is for Admissions I think they say that most ivies use it for academics.

I would think that a 230+ for harvard? (Would be good)

Ya a 230+ is good...but think about how many ppl get a 230+ and apply to Harvard: a large majority.

You have to express your voice through your essays; show what you can offer, show who you are.

The majority of applicants to harvard do not have a 230 AI. That's absurd- but I get what you're saying =p.

I think the AI basically weeds out the weaker applicants, but isn't much good when comparing students with close academic stats.

that's the link for the calculator...It would be nice if it meant anything...It said that I was 9/9!

I do like how my AI goes up by 5 when my Class Rank increases 2 spots lol.
