aid for oos

Hi, I am a oos student who got accepted by IU. I am wondering if there is anywhere else that I can apply for financial aid besides FAFSA and the IU Bloomington IUAA/IUF Scholarship. IU’s tuition is really expensive and I really hope that I can find more ways to cover to tuition cost.

If the school did t award you merit aid, and you likely won’t receive need based aid, it might be a good idea to also look at options that are affordable. The first obligation IU has is to Indiana residents, who are taxpayers who support that University. OOS students don’t…thus the higher costs to attend.

Did you apply to any in-state schools, like Baruch?

Hard for NY to compete with Bloomington!

There are private loans, but you should really look at other affordable schools. This happens every year that students got applied to unaffordable schools and not realized until they see the FA package. One should check the NPC before applying.

Did you receive any merit from IU? Your GPA is a 3.0, so that might be too low for merit, even with your good ACT. I think IU requires a 3.75, but maybe they’ve changed.

You’ve applied to a lot of OOS publics. Did you run the NPCs before applying?

OOS publics charge a high rate because your family doesn’t pay taxes there. They don’t usually provide need-based aid to cover those high costs.

You applied to Posse. That is one of the few outside sources for large 4 year awards for college. If you weren’t selected, then you probably won’t find other means.

How much will your parents pay each year? Ask them.

Did you apply to any schools that you can afford?
