Aid for out-of-state kids at public colleges?

University of New Mexico also offers merit to OOS students.

The Amigo Scholarship has pretty generous minimum requirements: 23 ACT (1060 SAT) and 3.5 GPA or 26 ACT (1170 SAT) and 3.0 GPA.

It pays the difference between in-state and out–of-state costs plus an additional $200 stipend.

Arizona State, Kansas, Nebraska, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU, Utah State and Ohio U. have significant OOS merit aid and calculators or charts on their websites to tell you what you’ll likely receive.

UNH offers a good amount of money as well

Adding some more…

Iowa State. Cheap to begin with; $27,000 tuition/fees/room/board; and they give merit for OOS. Use their scholarship calculator.

Truman State in MO, ourstanding school. Cheap to begin with; $21,000 tuition/fees/room/board; and they give merit for OOS…automatic scholarships on their website. Many people qualify for at least $4500 in merit.

Montana State and University of Montana. Cheap to begin with; $27,000 tuition/fees/room/board; and they give merit for OOS. Montana State has automatic scholarships listed on website.

University of Wyoming. Cheap to begin with; $21,500 tuition/fees/room/board; and they give merit for OOS…automatic scholarships on their website. Many people qualify for at least $5000 in merit.

^ Interesting. If you actually go to the Rocky Mountain Scholar page for Wyoming there is a chart that shows the top scholarship is $6K, not $5K. It pays to look through all of the school’s info.

I know, that is why I said ‘many people qualify for at least $5000 in merit.’

I have been on their scholarship page many times, it is a top choice for my son.
