<p>I remember when I took an ethics class and we dicussed that one should live their life in a way that if it were reported ton the front page of the paper, hyou could still hold your head up.</p>

<p>Imagine this parent beaming with pride saying "my daughter got admitted to Harvard, Columbia and MIT but I am not going to give one additional dime to help her attend any of these schools." It's not going to happen because he most likely will never public say it. But hey, there is no prision worse than the one you put your self in".. She won't always be 18 and he may not always be rolling in the dough.</p>

<p>Zagat, in some states if the divorce agreement has specific stipulations about payment, he would have to pay just as he would have to fulfill the contract for payment of other things. It is also possible that that though it is not stipulated, there is language that can bring about a court order to pay. But I do agree with you that kids in an intact household often have the exact same problem.</p>
