My efc from the FAFSA was about $6000, and USC told me that my EFC is around $55000. Can there be a huge difference?
Can you guys share what your EFC was and how much aid package you recieved, if you don't mind?

FASFA efc means NOTHING to usc!!

repeat after me, FASFA efc means NOTHING!!! they use their own css profile and calculate other things like assets

:[ so saddd

Anybody else in a situation similar to the OP? Anybody receive generous aid?

Have you taken the time to read the long explanation concerning financial aid that is at the top of the forum?

Private universities use both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. USC, on every piece of literature I have seen, states the following:

"Information used to determine USC aid

. FAFSA
. CSS Profile
. Parent and student tax returns
. Other specific information may be required, depending upon family’s situation."

It is regrettable you did not receive the amount you were expecting. Certain assets are used in SC’s determination. If you use the search function you will find posts from parents who did receive aid packages which made SC a viable financial choice.

You are able to appeal the amount stated in your financial aid package. Contact the financial aid office.
