Aid

Ok this is my 4th DD in college!! UGH and awesome,

Each of my kids were able to get a pell grant. our EFC is like $500 We have a household of 6

We are not employed but we have rental homes that we use as our income. We went through the market place for insurance and 2 of our kids were bumped to Medicaid. We make less then $50,000 a year and qualify for simple needs form on fasfa based on the Medicaid and low income. DD 4 is applying to school that has CCS will she lose her here eligibility for her Pell grant? She will also be able to get a state grant based on SAT score and income. Will those be in jeopardy also? and would that effect all schools or just the CSS school

The Pell grant is based off the FAFSA only. She qualifies or she doesn’t. It is likely the state merit grant is also based on the FAFSA as I’ve never heard of one requiring the CSS.

But the CSS profile school will consider the real estate assets and not disregard them like the FAFSA (with simplified needs test). So she might not get enough aid to make the school affordable.

Doesn’t medicaid consider assets?

Medicaid considers income, not assets.

She didn’t ask about CSS schools and how much aid daughter would get, she asked about a Pell grant and state merit award. Even at Harvard, the Pell grant is based entirely off the FAFSA filing.
