<p>How does BU’s financial aid stack up compared to other schools? i.e. is it fairly generous/stingy or grant/loan based? do they do merit scholarships?</p>
<p>From what I hear, it is pretty generous compared to comparable schools such as GW or NYU.</p>
<p>I have seen some very generous grants and scholarships posted here, and I know of a few students personally that did quite well. ( one of whom had weaker stats than my daughter ,and no financial need )</p>
<p>My daughter didn't get offered anything, which was a surprise. It was the only school that offered nothing to her, however they required submission of a business and farm supplement ( never a good sign ) and after she got accepted , requested non-custodial forms.
Based on our previous experience with this from her sister's college, we opted out of considering BU for her college education.</p>
<p>It varies case by case and how they evaluate things is a mystery. I think they offer aid based in part on need and in part on how they rank you as a candidate and how they might perceive the chances of your going. I may be wrong.</p>
