AIME Score

Apparently there is a spot on the MIT app for AMC/AIME scores. I have qualified for AIME twice, but I never received my scores for either exam. I didn't qualify for USAMO and I would suspect that neither of my scores were above a 5 or 6. My question is whether there is some way for me to find this score, or whether I can just note my situation in the application and have MIT find it (do they have access?)?

I had the same problem. Send an email to AMC with the years that you took the exam as well as your name and maybe some other info and they will reply with your scores :)

From the February 14, 2006 blog of Ben Jones, in Admissions at MIT: "A good AIME score will certainly help you. I can’t give you an exact number because it depends on how it fits into the overall context of your application, but you should report any AIME scores to us - they can never hurt you.‘’

So, I’m guessing only a AIME score of 9-10 or higher will help you. 4-5 is respectable though. What is your AMC score that qualified you?

I am just gonna agree to cortana431’s statement, or his Ben reference, that “they [AIME scores] can never hurt you.” When an MIT admissions officer tells you something is true, then it is a fact. Or as what people in Washington D.C. might say: it’s a true fact. =D

An interesting (I hope) anecdote: my roommate scored 3 times higher on AIME as a freshman than I did as a senior. He got into MIT, and I got in too.
