I am an indian junior high schooler, I am in IB and am currently contending for valedictorian, definitely in top 10 (i have only gotten one B ever). I take all IB and AP classes this year and same next year. I play Varsity tennis (although not the best, to say the least), am in four honor societies (I know, sounds pompous, oh well), and in varsity debate and science Olympiad. I have participated in quiz bowl and science bowl for my school. I am very active at my Hindu temple (if that accounts for anything, I don’t know).
Essentially, what are my chances I’ll get into MIT? that is my top goal for university, And i have heard you need something REALLY special to get into MIT. But as of now, what are my chances of getting in? any help is appreciated, and I hope this thread will help others as well.
You prolly have around a 15-20%% chance. There’s nothing wrong with you, you’re incredible smart, but MIT is ridiculously selective. Also you’re Indian so you have some challenging competition. Try and find a way to stand out. And what are your ACT or SAT scores?
No probably not. Your SAT score is very low for an Asian (need 2300+) Your ECs look like a laundry list for resume padding with no clear focus. To get into MIT, you should do research and win prestigious awards, focus on a few ECs, get leadership and awards in them, get higher SATs, and write amazing essays. Still, MIT is never guaranteed (unless you’re supreme dictator of the world)
