Air 11

Will a macbook air 11 inch serve all of my needs? I am a science major-bio.

Its a nice computer and once It gets updated spec wise (should be anytime now), Its going to be a pretty quick ultraportable. The tiny screen is going to get old quick though. You can buy an external monitor and hook it up, but that may not be an option for you. If it was me, I’d spend the extra cash and get a macbook pro. It costs more, but you’d have a larger screen and a MUCH more powerful computer. Battery life is supposed to be better too. I was really not impressed with the battery life on the 11" Macbook Airs, 5 or 6 hours for something that small just doesn’t sound attractive to me. I’m guessing its because the size of the actual battery couldn’t be very big inside that tiny case, but its still a drawback. I’d head over to an Apple Store if you’re near one and check em out. Theres nothing better than first hand experience when considering spending a grand or more on a computer lol.

Depends on your needs…
My needs include somethings a computer can’t do.

If I were entering college, I think that I would buy a MB Air 11" - it is hardly larger than an iPad, yet it runs OS X and has a full keyboard and a sharp screen. I could slip it into my small backpack and hardly notice that it is there. In my dorm I would plug it into a larger screen and access a wireless hard drive.

The MBA 11" is the Netbook that everyone has been talking about for years, but everyone else has been making with cheap slow processors and crappy screens (but what could you expect for $400?). And, I’m not the only one who thinks so:

just get the macbook pro 13". there is a sale in microcenter for $999

Probably, but if you’re only going to have one computer you might as well go with a 13" MBA :)

Ya if you are going to have one computer you might as well get either the MBA 13 or MBP 13.

Using an 11’’ as your primary for many years would suck.

The new airs will come in 13 inch i believe. get that.
