Air Conditioning in the dorms

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me which (if any) of the dorms on campus have air conditioning.

I am interested in doing the Civic Engagement program (1 credit, in-residence course with fieldwork requirements) at Barnard this Fall. However, I would have to live with others who are doing this program in singles and doubles in Elliott Hall. Although I am curious about all of the dorms, does anyone know specifically if Elliott is air conditioned?

Also, has anyone had experience living in a dorm that is not air conditioned? If so, is it really that bad? Were you really miserable for those first few weeks of school?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Apparently it is offered in Elliott:

A list of airconditioned dorms is about half way down the page.

I forgot to mention D says that AC is only needed the first two weeks of school.

Thanks for the info, mardad! I know it's not something that would keep me from attending Barnard, but it's always nice to know what you're in for before you get there!

i could have sworn civic engagement was in plimpton. i'm doing civic engagement house (the not-for-credit one) and it definitely is in plimpton - i've already filled out my housing forms - and i was under the impression that the for-credit class was also there on different floors. regardless, both plimpton and elliott are air-conditioned. i'm living at barnard this summer in 600 (non AC) and i havent even needed to turn on my fan yet.. although i'm sure that'll change. it's really not that big a deal to not have AC, just bring a fan and drink lots of water. in fact it'll encourage you to get out of your dorm room and meet people.

Thanks for the insight, scarfmadness!

You are correct. The civic engagement house is in Plimpton. I should have made my post more clear. I am not eligible to do the civic engagement house because it says that the opportunity is only offered to 2 sophomore transfer admits to join other sophomores, and I am a junior admit.

What I will be appying for is the for-credit course called Engagement and Communities in NYC, which features lectures and a field work requirement. The letter and the email that I was sent both said that I would live in a single or a double in Elliott with other students who are doing the program.

However, things may have changed since the letter and the email were sent out. It would make sense to have both programs in one hall - that way it's easier to come in contact with others who share your interests. Either way, I would be delighted to be a part of the program.

Once again, I appreciate the insight and the information.
