Alabama Action Abroad info session

The honor’s college just posted a link on their Facebook page that they are having an info session for Alabama Action Abroad next Monday at 8:00PM in Lloyd 235 with the following link - [Alabama Action Abroad | Honors College](http://honors.ua.edu/alabamaactionabroad/)

For students that want a short travel abroad experience, it’s worth looking into.

My S was able to go on the trip to Ecuador last summer and still do an internship when he returned.

How much do these trips cost?

Much depends on the cost of the plane flights, but when my son did the trips to Costa Rica, they ran about $1500-$1600. He loved the trips, too.

Had to go through old emails to find the answer.

Last year the Ecuador trip was about $2000 + airfare.

Students also have the option of including a 1 credit UH course (400 level so does not count for UH seminar credit) in the spring which will teach them about the country they will be visiting and prepare them for the trip.

I hightly recommend the Ecuador trip! D came back just raving about it! They spent 5 days in the Andes and 5 days in the Amazon. Lots of leadership and community service opportunities. D came home with amazing pictures of monkey’s, of tribal residents and of scenery that was out of a National Geographic special. My favorite picture was her with a machete! :0

If you have questions, feel free to PM me…

For the trips to Costa Rica and Equador, we paid less than 1000 for each RT airfare. I think the airfare was about $800 each time.

Does the student need to speak Spanish to participate?

Belize and Costa Rica are both non-Spanish speaking. Equador is Spanish speaking but I know that last year they allowed a couple of english speaking kids in the class and the program…D is in Spanish 356 and she loved speaking to the locals.
