I’m wondering if I’ll need to retake the SAT in Nov. or not to make Finalist cutoff (if not, I’ll take SAT subject tests)

I’m not sure why no one replied. If you were notified that you are a National Merit Semi Finalist I’m confident that SAT is sufficient. (It’s the PSAT score that has different cutoffs depending on the state and year. In competitive states, a 214 wouldn’t be sufficient. For 2015 data, http://www.studypoint.com/ed/national-merit-scores/) Almost all the students who are selected as NMSF will proceed to MNF if they complete the paperwork and don’t have any problems on their record. (Serious things, for example discipline issues or flunking a class. Remember the school provides input & makes recommendation.)
In terms of UFE, just know upfront this is a tremendously selective program! It is not based as much on scores & grades (although you do need those to apply) as it is on community service orientation. A good friend of my son’s who was an Eagle scout with hundreds of volunteer hours, 4.0, NMF, and numerous local/state awards didn’t make it past the phone interview…This isn’t to say you won’t, but just know that even if you get invited for finalist weekend, it’s still a 50/50 prospect.
