We live in Texas and my daughter visited Alabama and loved it! She has earned a Alabama Scholars scholarship of 19,000 per year with a 1450 SAT, but is shooting for the Presidential Scholarship of 25,000 per year with a required 1490 SAT. She has just taken the SAT again in October. If she does not get the 1490, do you think that she would have a shot at Alumni Scholarships to help out? Alabama is one of her top choices. Without the Presidential Scholarship, not sure if worth being so far away for same cost as Texas A&M and UT. She plans on doing the Science/MBA program. She has already been accepted! Let me know if anyone in similar situation in the past?
Is she actually in at UT for her major?
In my DD’s experience, she only received the presidential.
Correct me if I am wrong but can she take the SAT again, as long as the results are sent by December?
Yes, she missed Presidential by 20 points: 1470…so she hoping for additional scholarship! Her superscore is 1520, but that does not count at Alabama. Testing over now…
She is accepted into A&M and waiting to here from UT. She is considering multiple things. At Alabama, she applied undecided, but very interested in their 5 year program: engineering/science with MBA. UT she applied Chemical Engineering first choice, Science 2nd choice. Texas A&M: Business…but planning on doing Engineering with Business minor…
Presidential Scholarship is awesome!

If she’s applied for chemE at UT, then she needs to apply as chemE at Bama as well…then she’d get an add’l 2500 per year. Go into mybama and change the major.
Yes! She needs to switch major to get additonal money for Engineering! Is it $2500 or $1250 per year?
$2500 per year
