Oops, I meant to add that unfortunately you will not receive an admission scholarship. Those scholarships are purely stat based exactly as posted in the post by @LucieTheLakie
@Mom2aphysicsgeek well with other financial aid and additional scholarships that I applied for through bama and outside scholarships I will be able to afford Bama as an OOS. I was told by an Alabama Scholarship counselor that many scholarships are granted through the resume portion of the scholarship app.
@jshook OOS tuition alone is $26,000 (assuming you stay at 12-16 hrs/semester bc extra hrs will cost more.) I do not know what FA Bama offers, but I do not think it is much.
It is great to try, but you really need to have (an)other school(s) that will be affordable as a back up. The merit scholarships outside of the guaranteed admission scholarships are extremely competitive. The number of students who have large $$ scholarships beyond the automatic admissions ones is small. The kids who are receiving the presidential and have equally stellar apps will also be contenders for those scholarships. They will be 4.0+ kids with 1400-1600 scores. Try for the scholarships, but be prepared for alternative options.
@Mom2aphysicsgeek I understand what you are saying. And of course Alabama is not my only option. I have 4 other schools 1 of which my tuition is being completely covered because of my stats. So thank you for the help, but I’m not going to be completely discouraged simply because of my test scores. They do take other things into account. But thank you again !
@jshook I am glad you already have one solid option! That is important. My kids have to find scholarship heavy schools bc we cannot afford to contribute anything close to what we are expected to, so we understand the need and have learned a lot about the process.
What is your intended major?
@Mom2aphysicsgeek Yeah it’s a stressful process. I’m undecided but I’m leaning towards business
