I applied to Louisiana Tech University and got accepted which is super awesome. The problem arose when I calculated how much it would cost to attend, because if I calculations right (and I'm sure I didn't) out of state cost of attendance should be $30,000. I was awarded in a sense the Bulldog scholarship which covers my out of state fees. So basically I'm asking what the scholarship covers. Any help would be highly appreciated. ^:)^

It looks like the scholarship gives you tuition waiver for the OOS portion. For any additional financial aid you will need your award letter, if you didn’t yet. They should send you a letter with Cost of Attendance and any aid awarded. Nothing?

fyi instate COA is about 15,500 plus travel and personal

I did get an award letter, but it said the full amount I would receive for all four years is about $100,000 which didn’t make sense if it only covers the out of state portion.

Yes you are right, it doesn’t quite add up. They do give additional automatic scholarship depending on your test scores too. You can call or email them, ask if you will get an award letter which details the amounts you are getting and the costs you will be expected to pay.

Look at this chart under noncompetitive scholarships, there are awards for OOS here too

Call them and ask! Just ask them to clarify what awards you have received. You also need to know the requirements to keep those awards.

Congratulations!

Sounds like you were awarded more than one award. What are your stats?

Are you referring to a scholarship award letter or a complete financial aid award letter in post #2? The latter would include any need based aid in addition to the scholarship. Is the award letter broken down by category: grants, scholarships, loans etc.? You could post the amounts here and people can help interpret it.

According to this link, the out of state premium is $5944 per quarter. That would be close to $72,000 for 4 years, 3 quarters per year.
