Use this:http://w4.stern.nyu.edu/uc/admittedstudent/freshmen.cfm?doc_id=5206

call the admissions office, and make an appointment with an advisor. they will walk you through it if you don't get it

i tried to call, but they said class of 2011 can't schedule any appointment yet.

just a quick question. were we supposed to have received some packet with course descriptions? specifically referring to stern freshmen next year.

I tried using the site but its so confusing. it basically says that i have to choose between these topics:
*Expository Writing Program: Writing the Essay REQUIRED FALL 2007
*Morse Academic Plan: Natural Science, World Cultures, Conversations of the West
*Mathematics: Calculus I, II, Linear or Statistics
*Economics: Microeconomics
*Other Options

Apart from WTE which i have to take fall semester, what should i typically take? Please, any suggestions?

Hey, I'm a Soph. at Stern now. Depending on your math skills you may not want to take stat. and calc at the same time. Although if you’re good at math it might be a dif. story (I took AP Calc in H.S. and got 4s on the BC test and didn't apply the credit so I could take Calc I, I only went to class three times and managed to get an A.) The most important thing to do when choosing classes is to first find all the ones that are interesting. Then look on Albert under the registration tab where it says "Course Evaluation Guide" look through all the classes that you’re interested and weed out the bad profs. From there you should have a pretty solid base for a schedule.

I see that Baumol is teaching micro econ this semester, which is who I had. I didn't really like the class, it was taught in a very confusing manner and my TA was horrible. Your grade is just based on a mid-term and a final, and I think the exam questions were pretty vague, but if you miss the exams he lets you take them home to do on your own time (I did this for both, but only got a B in the class which was my lowest grade frosh year). I'm not sure if the prof. that teaches Spring semester will be better though, you can always ask around and find out.
