Yes, there are. I have nothing to do with the Greek scene, and I still have a really active social life.

After being here for 2 years, I would say you can obviously have a social life without being involved in the Greek scene (whether that’s being in a frat/sorority or going to their parties), but Greek life does have a very noticeable presence on campus. Even though only about 1/3 of students are part of it, it often seems to be a much larger proportion. From people (girls, mostly) wearing their letters or Green events being advertised, it’s always kind of there–that’s not necessarily a bad thing, though, unless you inherently think the Greek system is awful, in which case Penn might not be the place for you. I think the Greek “culture” has encompassed a much greater part of the student body than those in houses.

hahaha lol Today, I was looking through the backpack I used at Penn…I was literally shocked when I found these shredded dark green dried leaves on the bottom of the bag.

I thought maybe the other hostees put it there or WORSE, I had a “wild and crazy 4/20 night” and I forgot all about it. Then, I remembered that I put a piece of leaf from some tree in my backpack as a Philly souvenir. hahaha lol
