Alcohol education

As rising freshmen, do we need to complete any online alcohol education or anything remotely similar? I remember it being mentioned at ctops, but I forget the website and I haven't gotten any emails about it... is it essential that it is completed? If so, then does it need to be done by move in day?

Apparently, yes. Lame. This is the e-mail I got today:

“We enjoyed meeting you at Summer Orientation and hope you are excited about the start of the Fall semester. As you settle into campus, we ask that you complete the following steps to ensure a smooth transition. 1. Your feedback about your CTOPS experience is important to us.
Well what do you know, I got that at 9:18 pm today. That’s just what I wanted to do on my last day before leaving… Thanks for posting. I probably wouldn’t have checked my email again.

I got a 70 on the quiz or whatever. Does that mean I’m done? I was really confused.

Huh, that’s new. I’m sure the grade doesn’t matter, but it’s probably good stuff to know.

I don’t think that’s new. I remember having to do that 2 years ago. For some reason I really want to say that you need to get a hundred, but that is probably my memory playing tricks on me.

I feel old now. Ah well, such is life.

Nah, you aren’t done. After you take the first preliminary exam, you have to go on and view about 20 “articles” that teach you different things about alcohol. You have to stay on those articles for at least 30 seconds or the program will not let you move forward. After you’ve reviewed all of those articles, you go and retake the test. If you score an 80% or higher, you pass. Altogether, the shindig takes about 15 minutes.

cloying and I are the same year, and I definitely didn’t have to do any alcohol ed stuff. Guess we lucked out! I feel like this is semi-new for a lot of colleges from stuff I’ve read.
