For transfer students that got into CNS, the ALEKS test is required by June 15 (online). My question is do we have to take the test again at orientation? I think I read somewhere that we did have to take the ALEKS online by June 15 AND at orientation, but I'm have trouble finding where I read this. I'm starting to think I'm imagining the whole thing?! I hope I am cuz it doesn't make sense.

Can someone sort this out for me please, especially those who already attended orientation in the past. Thanks!!

My son took the ALEKS test before orientation, but didn’t like his score (89), so he took it again during orientation and received a 95. You can take it again, if you need to.

There is the ALEKS test that you are required to take online and an in-class one that you must take. If I’m not mistaken the one online is what is required and used to allow entrance into classes (80% for Calculus?). The in-class one, however, should just be for you. Kind of like a confirmation to show that the online ALEKS score wasn’t just a fluke (hopefully it doesn’t show that anyone cheated …) so you don’t get put in the wrong class.

The in-class one/one you take at orientation is 21 questions and will been taken in a large auditorium with the rest of the prospective college of natural sciences students. No calculators. You don’t need it regardless though; seemed more logic-based to me as opposed to any serious mathematics.

Edit: Oh here are the actual requirements
80% for Math 408C
70% for Math 408K and 408N
70% for CS 312
55% for Math 305G
30% Math 310T and 316*
30% SSC * 302. 303, 304, 305, and 306

They’ll also hand you this paper during advising to tell recommend to you what plan of action to take based on your scores.
