Guys what comes on the test? would calculus BC be enough?
Yes. Don’t worry too much about ALEKS. You take the test, and then can take little review units and then retake the test.
Yea. I have a friend who is at UT now; he and I studied the EXACT same curriculum in math and said it was really easy.
But im taking precaution;sorry to reiterate but if I know Calc BC (AP) that is more than sufficient right?
when should you take the aleks and the spatial reasoning test by?
BC is enough. It is about placement as much as anything. How good was your BC class? Do you feel ready? MY S got to skip through whatever the college BC equivalent is. His first freshman math class was whatever the class is after that one. Plenty of kids start off in the Cal101 class (not its name, but you get the idea; many kids take the first in the series of Cal classes as freshmen).
Well, i go to an int’l school. but the course is equivalent to BC so it shouldnt be a problem. and ive well in them… so hopefully it goes well
Thanks @lizardly what is/was your son studying?
Math! He had BC as a junior then ran out of higher math and had to tread water (imho) in Stats. Well, I guess there was math in Physics. He was a little rusty coming in to ALEKS, but I think he got placed correctly. I don’t know what score he made on it. He did well in his first UT math class, and has continued to do well.
Okay, so maybe it isn’t fair to use a math major for comparison.
I see. Haha!
@lizardly I know you mentioned BC is enough for ALEKS, but what is exactly covered on the ALEKS test?
idk I will have to ask son. My impression was that it was through BC type stuff. He made a high score on ALEKS and had through BC. I remember he said that you take the test, and if you score weakly in an area, there are review modules you can take. The goal seemed to be placement. If you had at one time mastered a math concept, and just needed to review it, you could do that and move on. If you had never been taught certain material, then the little review would likely not be enough and you would need to take that lesson.
Alright. thanks for the response! yeah I’ve read that! Cool, cool!
Let me know when you can about what exactly is covered! Thanks
