I'm still confused. So is this extra credit for those of us not enrolled in Sailor's class? I'm still not sure how this points system is working out...

Well it says anyone who is currently enrolled in Chem 6A and not in Sailor’s class is eligible for up to 5% extra credit if they complete the summer program.

haha 5%… sounds like bribery. 5% for $25.

Sounds worth it to me :-D

I’d consider doing it too… if I’m guaranteed a spot in Chem 6A…

What is this ALEKS thing you are talking about? I’m taking CHEM 6A with Weinbeger in the Fall.

@bobman
You have to pay?! I didnt check the site since i’m waitlisted

This is from an email sent from Dr. Johson. Check your UCSD emails.

It was only sent to those waitlisted according to the email.

worth it IF were guaranteed.

@bobo: Oh yeah I just saw that. That’s pretty stupid then.

They said they’ll resend it multiple times in case someone didnt receive it. Hopefully they find their flaw.

what flaw? lol sounds like a legit freshman guinea pig program to me

Flaw that they didnt send it to all chem6a students

I received the e-mail and I’m not on a waitlist.

I’m going to do this. Paying for it sucks, but it should help refresh my memory on some chem topics and also earn some extra credit. It is definitely a good way to start of on the right foot for the upcoming year.

“This e-mail is intended for students waitlisted in:
CHEM 6A A01 FA10 General Chemistry I
CHEM 6A A02 FA10 General Chemistry I
CHEM 6A A03 FA10 General Chemistry I
CHEM 6A A04 FA10 General Chemistry I
etc”

I guess i was wrong then, oh well. I would do this if i get off waitlist. We’re already paying so much. Another $25 for half a grade seems like a good deal to me.

She must have sent them in different batches.

Yeah, I think anyone that had anything to do with Chem 6A got this email.

I don’t see how this is manipulation, bribery, or conspiracy… I think it was very astute of the administration to realize a lot of high schoolers took chem at least 2-3 years ago and needed a refresher course. I probably would have done this program even without the extra credit, because it’s probably going to gain me points on the first exam, on which I will definitely be rusty on concepts.

You know what, it’s just a guinea pig program they’re bribing us to do. I mean, it IS legitamate, so it may be worth it.
