Aleks test? and Spatial visualization test?

Is it necessary to take the Aleks test? I'm going into engineering, and I have just taken AP Calc BC. My scores won't come in until July though. And the Aleks test deadline is June 1. On the website it says to fulfill the math readiness requirement, you have to either take the aleks test or have already taken calculus in high school, but will they receive my scores in time? Also, at the WEP session I went to, one of the ladies said you HAD to take the aleks test, even if you have taken calculus? Should I go ahead and take it just to be safe? What is on it, and is it difficult-would I have to study a lot?

Also, does anyone know anything about the spatial visualization test that is required by engineering students? I just got an e-mail today saying to take it by June 5. Is it required to take the training class if I do not do well on the test? And what are the questions like? I have never taken any kind of test like this before, so is it difficult?

I’d also like to know about all of that.

Btw, I thought the aleks had to be completed before the date you enter the school (august?) Where did you see the deadline as june 1? See here it says:

Please note: All students admitted into the Cockrell School of Engineering are required to submit Calculus Readiness documentation by the Friday before fall semester classes begin to remain in engineering. If the admitted student has not met the calculus requirement by the Friday deadline, they will be removed from their engineering major.

Oh, I’m not actually sure if that’s the deadline for the aleks test. My friend told me she got an e-mail saying if you’re going to one of the first 2 orientations, you had to take it by june 1, and I’m going to the 1st one. But she is also going into the college of natural sciences. I don’t know if there is a difference between that and engineering, but I didn’t get the e-mail, so I just kind of assumed it would be the same, but I definitely don’t know if it is or not.

Wow, I’m glad they didn’t require a spatial visualization test when I was at UT, or I would never have been allowed in engineering! My mind is very 2D.

Just finished the spacial visualization test. Got 25/30 correct which means I passed (18 was minimum). It wasn’t bad, I really missed 2 or 3 questions. I quickly guessed on the last few to get more points.

I’m gonna be a studio art major, and I haven’t heard about either of these…Do I need to take them? If not, then which math am I supposed to take?

I’ve also received an email saying to take the spatial visualization test by June 5. But I didn’t see this course listed after I’ve logged on. Does anyone have same issue?
