Aleks

I got into UCSB undeclared, but I want to be on the pre-med track (I understand pre-health is not a major).

And I know you have to take a chem class to fulfill requirements.
However, I haven't been able to sign up for classes, but I've seen around on UCSB facebook pages talk about ALEKS testing for chem students, but I haven't received any info about it other than that.

I would like to know what exactly ALEKS is, and its importance?

I won't be able to sign up for classes til the second pass time.

Please and Thank You!

well im going to be a freshman in the fall and i signed up for chem1a, and i too am heading into the medical field. and what the aleks thing is, is a homework review, summer assignment that us chem kids have to do in order to make sure we are prepared for the college level chem. so if youre not registered for chem, its no suprise you havent gotten an email talking about it or anything. when you finally do get into it, expect to hear things :)

Thank you for the reply!

Does it take long and is it any difficult? I haven’t taken chem since my freshman year, haha.

It covers a lot of topics, but you don’t have to do it all at once.

It’s only difficult because I’m sure you don’t remember all the chem stuff. The algebra stuff should be pretty easy, though.

thank you for the help!
Uhm, do you know the link I would have to go to?
Just in case, hah.

What I mean is, is there a course code?
Does the code apply to every chemistry class, or is the course code different for each professor?

Did anyone get invited into Chem 2A (I believe this is the honors course, CCS students also take it as well)?

You don’t have to do the ALEKS if you’re in 2A.
