I really didn't have much of an idea of why Alexander was so "Great" at the end.

It seemed to me that all he did was cause a lot of war, butcher a lot of people, maim elephants, and just ruin stuff for nothing... his whole empire broke down to little squabbling pieces in the end anyway.

jared letos in it??? i love him. even though i heard this movie blows big time, i may just ahve to go for him. he was SOOO hot in requiem. gurgle

ah some insight from my sister: she said there was only only 2 fights, when you would expect to really see that kind of military glory since it is a movie about Alexander

It was SOOOOO unbelievably LONG too! Oh my freaking god, I wanted to kill that old narrator man by the end of the damn thing! I probably wouldn't have minded the movie all that much if it was an hour shorter, but NO, they had to add 2 hours of fight scenes with elephants getting their snouts cut off and so on...ach...BAD MOVIE!
Although, I will say, the whole gay relationship aspect was done very tastefully, which was nice...otherwise, the movie sucked.

i kinda think that the whole gay relationship part was kinda awkward. there were so many moments where u expected them to kiss, but for some reason Stone didn't have them express any feelings besides platonic. it was a good attempt at trying to portray the homosexual part of Alexander, but it could have been a LOT better.

Well, he was showing how gay relationships could be just as normal and loving as your typical heterosexual relationship, that they weren't all about the sex. He also sort of had it as a side note in the movie, to show that homosexuality wasn't what made Alexander who he was, it was only a small part of that, just like it is with your typical heterosexual.

All movies with big hype suck. It's the curse of big hype. It only plays to "action movie" people who usually don't know too much about ancient history. Just seems stupid overall. Plus I think Colin Ferrill is an *******, so whatever! haha

You all should have figured out that around 2000 movies started sucking big time. I don't go to the movies nor rent much more from Hollywood. However, watching foreign films is starting to become a much better alternative.

Is it really that bad? My friend and I had wanted to go see it, but now...

I remember that I didn't like Troy when I saw that. It seemed like it was trying to hard to combine the successful elements of Gladiator and Lord of the Rings.

At least Troy made sense. At least Orlando Bloom and Diane Kruger had a little bit of chemistry. At least the director wasn't so arrogant that he believed he could handle a non-linear plot as well as a movie like Pulp Fiction. At least...whatever, just don't waste 8.50 on this. I'd even advise you to see National Treasure over this, at least you'll be entertained by that. Not that I'm saying National Treasure was a good movie.

ALEXANDER IS THE GAYEST MOVIE EVER...LITERALLY.

I wasn't to educated on alexander before i saw the movie, but i didn't know he was a flaming gay guy. seriously, there is more guy on guy action than any movie i've seen. it was horrible, and not only for that reason. i have nothing agianst gay people by the way, its just the movie concentrated to much on his bisexualness or whatever the hell that was. the fighting sucked and they failed to explaint how ingenious alexanders first victory was.

the acting wasn't bad (angeline jolie did a good job), but the movie/plot/everything else sucked.

it sucked and it was so incoherent, but i felt the relationship between Alexander and his best friend was done quite tastefully i didn't think it overpowered the film. Angelina Jolie's accent cracked me up .

I agree with emsibdn. I see more movies at the indie/foreign film theater than at the mainstream theater because American movies are starting to really suck. There are some good ones coming out soon, though (Ocean's 12, Closer, The Life Aquatic, should all be good).

Closer looks crappy. The Life Aquatic will be good if you liked Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums, but I hear it's not as funny. Ocean's 12 should be great. What happened to Clooney's signature hair though? It doesn't look right now.
