ok here's the scoop. my high school doesn't list alg3/trigonometry as a prerequisite for pre-calc. i asked one of my previous math teachers, and he said that alg3/trig was really just delaying taking more advanced courses, so i dont really need to take it. then another teacher said the opposite, that i should take this class, then take pre-calc the next year. so here's the question- should i skip alg3/trig and move on to pre-calc or take them both??? please reply!!! thanks for your help.

why not take them both if that's an option?

trig is combined with alg2 at my school, we don't even have an alg3. (ours is alg1, geo, alg2trig, precalc, AP calc).

i will say this: you NEED trig for physics. if youre taking physics, you should take the trig class no matter what.

sorry my school doesn't have algebra 3 and trig is included in the study of pre-calc, so exactly what does alg. 3 cover?

wellll the thing is that if i take alg3/trig that means that i wont be able to take calc. in highschool b/c of scheduling and stuff. the highest math class that i would be able to get up to is pre-calc, in senior year. and yes, i was planning on taking physics.

this is what I call a school question, a question best answered by the experiences of people who go or recently went to your school, not complete strangers

yes well my school sucks. people there dont know what they're doing. for instance, right now my geometry tacher is teaching us simultaneous equations, which i learned like 3 years ago. she obviously has never heard of a curriculum. but i digress. thanks for your input anyway.

i would just suggest the most skipping path if u r a math person. It can be done and u can still maintain ur top rank in math.

is it necessary at all to take pre-calculus before taking Calculus AB?

well it's a prereq but u certainly can take AB without precalc and still do really well.

Is Algebra III, not Math Analysis?

Aka; Advanced Algebra?

It goes something like:

Algebra | Aka Beggining Algebra aka Algebra I
Intermediate Algebra | aka Algebra II
Advanced Algebra | Aka Algebra III aka Math Analysis

umm i think taking alg 3 would b pretty useless go pre-cal it covers trig

I'm not sure what alg3 is either. My school had "math analysis" for people that weren't smart enough to take precalc after alg 2/trig. Heck, a lot of people skipped pre calc & just took calc after alg2/trig

if you've had some trig, I'd just take pre-calc.. I don't remember precalc covering basic trig.
