So, I was in accelerated math and took pre-algebra in 7th and took Algebra 1 in 8th. Unfortunately, I moved to another city in January and due to curriculum differences, i had to retake A.1 last year.
I'm in 10th grade right now and in Geometry. I'm not challenged at all. If not for homework, I would have A+'s in class. I really want to take A.2 over the summer, but due to the math department head's close mindedness and my C+ grades in A.1, he possibly won't let me take it.
I really want to take at least Honors Calc by senior year, but that won't happen on the current track I'm on. Should I still take it?

FOLLOW UP:
I have completed my junior year and have a projected final grade of 81 in Trig/PreCalc (completed Algebra 2 the summer after 10th grade). I am considering taking Calculus 1 over the summer for credit in an attempt to take AB or BC Calc next school year. How viable is this plan?
Well, Calculus 1 is basically AB, so it would be pretty pointless the take AB next year, although taking BC would make more sense.
@skieurope
I know, but it seems unlikely because of my final grade in Trig/PreCalc and my lack of a free period next year.
In which case you’d be better served either taking a different class during the summer or doing something not centered on academics.
@skieurope It’s not doable?
It’s doable, but you’d basically be doing the same thing twice.
@skieurope Even with my grades?
Past performance does not necessarily predict future results. It certainly does not, IMO, warrant taking Calculus 1 followed by Calculus AB. If you feel that is what is necessary for you, nobody’s stopping you, but I think it’s a waste of time. You asked for opinions, and I’ve given mine. Good luck.
@skieurope Thanks!
