Algebra 2 @ prep school

could this be......a grade detriments 2?!?

every thread that Masterus partakes in is a sequel to Grade Detriments.

Did he ever end up translating that French passage? I haven't gotten to read the whole thread yet :(

no he did not

go to wikipedia and look up brebeuf jesuit preparatory school they were 2005's top debate team in the nation. Also it is your opinion that it is easier to write 6 essays on seperate topics. I disagree with your OPINION. I would much rather have one long essay so I only have to focus on that one. Also it doesn't matter if those political leaders were already rich because if they wouldn't have gone to those school they wouldn't be political leaders mostlikely. For example Paris Hilton has more money than most of our political leaders but she went to average schools and i don't even know where she went to college. What u said wasn't true anyways yes the bush family was rich but not all of them were. Also you can't buy ur way into some schools. For example at my school one of most well known people in my states daughter also applied, they're loaded, but she couldn't pass the test to even have a chance they even let her take the test again but she still couldn't pass so money can't buy everything.

Yeah, so i haven't read any of your posts just logged on now. I never said CC is lowly. I said A professor from Uconn teaches at our school. Does that mean I say I'm better than you? If you say to someone I got a new TV. Do you assume they're saying their better than you? Yeah, I could get a few bans right now. :) I'm definitely going to college, I've been prepared, I never bumped myself up in any classes, what are you talking about surge. There goes your superman fantasies again.

You said 10 percent are admitted ,but the real number is 35 percent. 2005 was 2 school years ago for your school's debates. Times have changed.

Read Master and Margarita, especially first chapter. You're not in a high school yet, and you can't be sure you are going there.

wowzers, paris hilton went to a prep school for famous people in nyc. she didn't go to college, eitther. i'm surprised you thought she did.

u r really ticking me off first off that was last year because this particular debate competition is held in the 1st semester of school.
No its not 35%. they post that to seem less elite. When in reality that isn't true.
What they do is they don't include the number of kids who take the ssat. Which is appox. 900 for this year. They just include the students that they offer app. of admission. So before u can even apply the cut off 60% of the students.
I don't know y u always think ur better than others because honestly ur awards, activities, and the such that u listed weren't at all impressive they were actually pretty standard and dull. They were the activities of the typical ivy league rejecty. and u r so rude all i wanted was an answer to a simple question not for u to post a thousand and one times so i'd truly appreciate it if when u see that wowzerz2010 has created a thread u just ignore it or i'll just have to block u.

I'm guessing ur one of those kids who spend so much time criticing others because u obviously don't have any friends to hangout with i wouldn't talk to u with ur bad personality. now i see y everyone doesn't like u on cc.

greendayfan: i would've posted this with my last post but i didn't want u to think i was talking to u when i was talking to masterus.
There r distinctly two types of prep schools. Im not talking about wat is know as "famous prep schools" they have many in florida and nyc. which is basically where children of celebs, or political leaders of 'unintelligent' children go. Then there is academically gifted prep schools for kids who are actually intelligent.
i was just making a point to masterus which i obviously don't know y. Is he even in high school yet? If not what grade is he in?

he's going into frosh year.

dont bother wowzer2010. masterus will NEVER change

so true so true

take algebra II -- know ahead of time that it won't be an easy class for you, so plan on taking your time with homework and studying. stay on top of the class from the beginning and ask for extra help when you need it and you should be fine.

as for EC's -- since you are going into 9th grade, I think you list looks good. The first year of high school is all about exploring options and seeing where you fit and what you are really interested in. College expect to see alot of activities at the beginning. After 9th grade, really narrow down what you like as far as EC's and then go deeper -- taking leadership positions and thinking outside the box.

your other classes look good.

thanks for all the good advice everyone(well, everyone except masterus) i think im going with algebra II-Honors.

U know masterus will eventually change, as soon as he doesn't get into the ivy league, and has to go to state college. Not that there is anything wrong with that but to him there probably is. Then he'll probably be making the argument that state college is way better than the ivy league and in no way do they compare because there is more diversity and nobody actually cares about what college u went to anyways.give me a break.

True! Guys like him will, at some point of their life, suffer 'breakdown' and loss of hopes and arrogant position. We were just trying to make it easy for him, but other way it will be hard.

whoah...fighting words...

mark my words i'd even bet on it if i believed in betting he's not going into the ivy league because as miserable as he tries to make everyone else feel he's going to get it back with karma. at the moment he may seem...average for an ivy league applier' but thats the thing average. He'll get his when it counts and that will be a funny day.

He'll just lie and say he got into Harvard. And we'll ask him to show us the letter to prove it and he'll say, "No! Such shame is bestowed upon you."
