Algebra 2

How difficult would it be for me a freshman to double up in math and take geometry honors and algebra 2 honors? We use block scheduling so its a option but i dont kow if will be able to handle it. You think it would be too difficult or should i go for it?

You'll be fine, geometry is the easiest math class you'll ever take.

Geometry is really easy, and algebra 2 is easy as well. I felt like I was doing the same thing over from algebra 1 when I was in algebra 2.

Yeah, theres not really any overlap, so it should be fine.

I did such a thing. It's not very hard. In fact, Geometry was pretty dumb since we had to write papers and papers on stuff from third grade (like addition of fractions) for standardized state testing but I don't think you'll face such terror.

I thought Geometry to be quite challenging, myself. We had to do extremely difficult proofs each day, memorize lists and lists of theorems and postulates, and many other challenging aspects. Geometry could be different elsewhere, however.

I totally agree with Robert. Geometry was soo hard for me. Algebra 2 is a piece of cake. If you did well in algebra 1 you will do fine in 2.

Geometry was the worst class ever. All it consists of are memorizing theorems, postulates, and doing the longest proofs ever. I love math, but hate Geometry. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO TRIG. NOT.

I just took honors geom this year (freshman going to be a sophmore), and I have to say it all depends on the instructor you have. For me, it was exceptionally easy (because I love math :) ), but if you are not the best at math, it could be slightly difficult. Our teacher would simply go over the basics of new material, and the tests would consist of problems we would have to figure out on the spot combining everything we had learned thus far (and were quite tricky if I might add).

Geometry is teh suck. Algebra is 10x better. As for you, it depends on your teachers. I think, generally, doubling up is very doable if you're good at math.

Many of the top students at my high school do this very successfully.

Some people are good at geometry, some people are good at algebra. It's rare that someone is good at both.

That being said, Algebra 2 is easier on the whole than geometry. There really isn't any overlap, so take it.

I hated Geometry. It wasn't at all hard, it was just... boring. Proofs suck. Enough said.

I going into Algebra II next year, so I'm not sure how hard it is, but from what my friends tell me, you don't really need one for the other, so you'll be fine.

If you weren't good in algebra 1, you most likely won't be good in algebra 2. With that being said, math oriented people do well in alegbra and non-math oriented people do well in geometry.

Which makes sense, because Geometry obviously isn't math.

"Which makes sense, because Geometry obviously isn't math."

:D

Note: My hatred of Geometry has nothing to do with how hard it is. It has to do with how much it sucks (like proofs).

I agree...it clearly can't be math since I know how to do it. :)

Very easy. Infact, I recommend you do it, because taking math all year keeps your skills focused. I did it, and will for every year in high school.

PS: Geometry is ridiculously easy. Those postulates and theorems are overrated.

i took geometry&algebra2 in one summer.

geometry was ridiculously easy, buti had to do algebra2 again because it was somehow so hard to me.
