Soo I'm in 8th grade and I really want to apply to some day schools nearby (and possibly a boarding school later if my dad/grandma gets over their fear of ancient, old, crusty, nun-driven Mexican boarding schools.) but something I'm really worried about are my grades in Algebra and Geometry. I took algebra in 6th grade and did really badly (80's mostly, one 70, few 90's) compared to the rest of my grades (A, A- average) and I did even worse in geometry (80's, one 90 (if even), few 70's) -__-

This year I didn't take any math classes though and I'm probably going to get a terrible grade on my TAKS (since I forgot everything I ever learned past 5th grade). So my parents are planning on getting me a math tutor.

I'm worried that it's going to look really bad when I try to apply to colleges years from now (because I've heard that math is ultra important when applying to colleges ;alsdkfj;lkasjdf). But I'm not all that worried about getting into a private high school (should I be?) ...

Can I retake these classes or something or am I stuck with these scores?

I retook Algebra I four times in "middle school." I think only one grade actually showed up on my transcript (ironically my earliest one. I think). But then I retook Geometry twice and only my last one showed. You could probably take a ton of math courses again.

If you get a B in Algebra and straight As all the way from Algebra II to Calculus I'm guessing they'd mostly look at the straight As...but maybe you should post this in another forum, where the participants have more expertise. Like the College Admissions forum.
