Algebra&Geometry grades suck.

Soo I'm in 8th grade and I really want to apply to some day schools nearby (and possibly a boarding school later if my dad/grandma gets over their fear of ancient, old, crusty, nun-driven Mexican boarding schools.) but something I'm really worried about are my grades in Algebra and Geometry. I took algebra in 6th grade and did really badly (80's mostly, one 70, few 90's) compared to the rest of my grades (A, A- average) and I did even worse in geometry (80's, one 90 (if even), few 70's) -__-

This year I didn't take any math classes though and I'm probably going to get a terrible grade on my TAKS (since I forgot everything I ever learned past 5th grade). So my parents are planning on getting me a math tutor.

I'm worried that it's going to look really bad when I try to apply to colleges years from now (because I've heard that math is ultra important when applying to colleges ;alsdkfj;lkasjdf). But I'm not all that worried about getting into a private high school (should I be?) ...

Can I retake these classes or something or am I stuck with these scores?

Where do you live? I've never heard of TAKS.

i think maybe thats texas.

I retook Algebra I four times in "middle school." I think only one grade actually showed up on my transcript (ironically my earliest one. I think). But then I retook Geometry twice and only my last one showed. You could probably take a ton of math courses again.

You are way ahead most other students, and by the time you get to the application process...Im sure you'll be ahead there as well.

If you're applying to day schools - go to the prep school admissions forum.

How are you doing horribly and ahead? Maybe you shouldn't have been placed ahead?

Just cause you are ahead, doesn't mean you should be making high grades. I'm ahead two years in math, and I make C's and B's.

The colleges WILL NOT care about your middle school grades.

Wrong, he's getting High school credit for them because they're technically High school standard already.

I heard that middle school grades never count, even if you get high school credit. If they do, I'm in trouble :D .

all those are going to effect are your class rank in high school which you can easily bring up with some As in high level honors/AP/IB classes

I know that high school courses in middle school affect rank, and GPA in high school. I was wondering if colleges look at middle school grades.

Whoa, lots of replies O.O And I'm a girl, btw.

It seems like these two courses aren't too terribly important, but I'll look into some summer programs at the high schools.

Thanks :)

ya i think colleges look at them but not very much because of how basic they are.........i may be wrong but idk

If you get a B in Algebra and straight As all the way from Algebra II to Calculus I'm guessing they'd mostly look at the straight As...but maybe you should post this in another forum, where the participants have more expertise. Like the College Admissions forum.
