Does Algebra 2 have anything to do with Pre Calc./Trig. cause i'm taking both classes together.
So do you really learn anything in Alg. 2 that you need for precalc/trig

bump........

Yes, I would like to know also. Is knowledge of Algebra II required for Pre-Calc., or does PC build up on other things?

come on please give me an answer

For me, Precalc/trig covered a lot of the same material as Algebra 2, but at a much higher level. But I guess it would have (probably) been possible to take Precalc without having Alg. 2, you just would have had to pay a LOT of attention to the brief reviews the teacher went over for graphing conics, etc. But it would definitely be better to have finished Algebra 2 first.

At my school, I don't think they would let you take Precalc without first having had Algebra 2, but the fact that they let you sign up for that might mean that it's do-able at your school.

Both are hons. classes

Precalculus is a review of Algebra, Algebra II and trigonometry with emphasis on functions and an introduction to exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions (if not previously covered).

It is possible to skip precalculus and go straight to calcuclus. Taking Algebra II and precalculus should not be a big problem, but precalculus will cover and, perhaps require, some Algebra II material before you get to it in you Algebra II course.

See the a description of typical pre-calculus topics at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precalculus

Thanks a lot

I wouldn't recommend skipping precalc. For me at least, it was just such an awesome culmination in my studies of sort of elementary math. I learned SO much and became so much more confident about math.

Are pre cal and advanced alg 2/trig related since at my school there is a bunch of people that go from alg 2/trig to calculus AB or BC. But there are only 14-15 people in the class overall out of 2200 high school students

PreCalc is basically a Algebra 2/Trig review and a Calc introduction. Don’t know why it was needed…

My school requires you to take algebra 2 before precalc/trig. In my experience, you need a strong algebra background to succeed in precalc. Algebra 2 also offers an introduction to concepts such as logs, basic trig, and understanding of graphs, all of which are major concepts for lessons in precalc.

I can not imagine taking precalc without algebra 2 before, but I’m not really a math person. If you are, precalc might be a struggle, but you could probably make it through.
