Algebra and geometry are both jokes. Very easy. I do have to say though I did better in algebra than geometry, BUT I never found geometry hard. Just practice more and more in geometry especially and you'll get used to it. Good luck.

Wow, an old thread!

Geometry uses algebra and algebra uses geometry, so it’s hard to say. I like being able to visualize things, even though I don’t have great spatial reasoning skills. If I’m trying to solve a problem I’m probably more likely to write an equation than draw a picture, so I’ll say I like algebra better, but that’s an oversimplification.

I absolutely hate algebra with every fiber of my being. Thank god I only had one year of it (I never took Algebra I). Algebra is seriously god awful. I did fine in the class (A first semester, B in the second) but good god I just hated it! It is by far the worst class I’ve ever had in high school and without a doubt my worst.

I quite liked geometry (and trig) though. It made a lot more sense to me.

^Why do you hate it?? I love algebra!

It just makes so much sense!

I prefer Algebra over Geometry. It’s just easier and more interesting.

Both were super easy.

Aime Geometry is trivial, you just need to be patient and under stand all the basic principles and concepts. Same with Aime algebra until. aime problem over 2, then aime problems become verry tricky.

i liked algebra better

geometry was actually kinda hard for me…but trig was easy. idk.

AIME algebra/geo #10-15 can be fairly difficult (for me, at least). Rare exceptions though, 2011 AIME #14 was extremely easy, just some guess-and-check work.

You all should take algebraic geometry.

Am I the only one here who likes calculus better?

^ maybe cause the calculus in high school isn’t that rigorous. Have you done delta-epsilon proofs?

And the algebra and geometry are better?

Heck, I’m delta-epsiloning my way through real analysis in my independent studies.

I would have said I actually like real analysis but that would sound presumptuous. In fact, I think topology is my cup of tea, but few would have any idea what I’m talking about. Though if you’re nitpicky that might go under geometry.

I don’t think I have a preference. I use to think I hated Geometry, but right now I’m in Precalc and I’ve loved trig. I remember hating it back in Geometry, so I don’t know if Algebra 2 did something or what. Either way I do think I have a tendency to get overwhelmed when looking at shapes/angles/whatever that have like a bunch of angles and stuff labeled. I’m not bad at geometry by any means, but it just requires me to calm down and think rationally.

All I know about topology is that it inspires a lot of dumb jokes about doughnuts and coffee cups and people who really don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

I feel like that’s at least half of math.

I for one have trouble telling spheres from inside out spheres.

But really, topology as I’ve studied it so far just generalizes some results of real analysis and bypasses a lot of epsilon-delta proofs. I prefer the former proofs, honestly.

I’m in Algebra 1 as a current Freshman. It’s not that I’m bad at it is why I get bad grades, but it’s because I was lazy and I’m very very frivolous. I think the frivolous part will never change… I could, but the creator of this thread. Con m
