Algebra vs. Geometry

I guessing most people on here are past these 2 subjects. My question is, did you do extremely well in one and poorly in the other, or found both equally hard/easy. Not to be narcisstic or anything, but I'm naturally good at math (even though I don't particularly like the subject), so I got straight A's in both, but I found Algebra a complete joke and got a 98% avg by doodling and sleeping my way through the year, while I had to focus on Geometry and read my notes. A lot of people say, if you though Geometry was easy, you probably found Geometry difficult, or if you found Algebra easy, Geometry might be a little harder because they require different parts of the brain, or different ways of thinking. Looking at my friends and peers, it's almost 90% true, but I'm wondering if there's any real substance to this theory.

Geometry sucked monkey balls.

Well I had a bit more of a challenge in formal geometry which is the honors at my school than algebra. I got over 100% in algebra II without much effort over geometry which I actually tried hard and managed with an 88%.

It is possible to get high grades in both. But I admit that geometry required a lot more effort than algebra. Study your theorems and postulates!

I found them to be the same level of difficulty.

Geometry requires a bit more creativity, as is the case with proofs. I find that over time, you will learn to love geometry and cherish proofs over bland problems without any real application, which is sadly often the case with Algebra I. Algebra II is a bit more enlightening, however, because you traverse far more beautiful, theoretical concepts.

I think any kind of algebra is beautiful :D

Yes, perhaps, but the opinion of the reader is often heavily influenced by his\her environment.

True enough. I started out hating math, due to a very sub-par Pre-Algebra teacher.

Huh?

lol i know what you mean but i must be annoying and point out silly errors. lol. it's my nature.

I liked trig though.

I liked Precalc :D

Do you guys recommend Stanford's EPGY Pre-Calc with Trig.?

I find geometry a lot easier than Algebra, that is, I had a 98% on geo compared to a 89% on algebra.

Geometry was easier for me. It's very visual and I'm a visual person, so it worked out.

I found the problem solving part of geometry "Find this segment", "Find the area" - basically anything that came up with a number to be easier and more fun than Algebra. I had a hard time with proofs - even if I see that the thing is true, I still have a hard time figuring out all the right postulates to prove it. Algebra 2 seemed to repeat most of Algebra 1.

Geometry was a waste of time.

geometry was a hundred times easier than algebra for me. I loved doing proofs.

i hate proofs with every fiber of my being. and i loveee algebra. easyy as hell.

Geometry is insanely difficult when it gets to competition level (AIME and USAMO). Take the last AMC 12 -- I answered every single algebra question but left around 5 Geometry questions blank because I'm just so bad at them...schools should be putting a stronger emphasis on Geometry. The Geometry course I went through in Frosh year was a joke.
