In your opinion, which one is better?

They are both new buidings, almost same design...almost the same food...both of them are located next to each other...i would say that Alice Cook is more social but that would be biased because i have friends living there.
By the way, why do you ask this question? If you are a transfer, i highly doubt you will get into these buildings...unless they reserve a few rooms for transfer students.

From what I hear there are still some open rooms in Cascadilla and Sheldon Court (both in collegetown). Not sure if they're reserved for transfers, but you'll probably have a shot. If you can get a space in one of the Gothics (on west), by all means go for it.

Biophilic - transfer center will not have housing this year as it's being torn down. We were told by advising that transfers would be on west campus.

Collegemom4-I am really diappointed to find out that they are tearing down tranfer center next year because now i won't be able to sleep peacefully during daytime!

ILRGT2010-Yes it is hard to get housing in Alice, Becker and Bethe because everyone wants to live there...but now that the are putting down transfer center they must have reserved considerable number of beds in these dorms for transfer students.

I haven't slept peacefully since I was home for winter break. Also, I think Hasbrook (sp?) on North is the new transfer center for next year (Class of '17 is going down).

So I got into Alice Cook, mainly bc of my block leader’s insanely good time slot. We chose Cook over the rest of campus mainly bc it’s the closest to AAP’s buildings, but also bc we’ve come to realize that while all of West has great dining most of the time, Cook is unusually more consistent with a great variety - plus you get to sit under a whole bunch of flags (I found the Venezuelan one, if you’re an immigrant too I’m sure you’ll find yours). The building is also close to a bunch of great party frats, and a volleyball court. The ONLY thing is that it’s as far as you can get from collegetown on West on-campus housing… Still, after eating at Becker several times, Cook feels less like a cafeteria and more of a nicely-themed/located caf

Cook definitely has better food-- Becker was always called the “Fried Food” house, whereas Cook has literally anything you could want, and a lot of healthy stuff too. Yeah, it’s the farthest from Ctown, but it’s also the closest to a lot of frats on West. I really wouldn’t say that any house is more or less convenient to get to class-- they are all really close together so it’s kind of splitting hairs at that point.

I liked the food in Becker best, actually. Their salad bar was the most consistent, in my opinion, and the only real fried food night is Friday, when they have all those mozzarella sticks and whatnot. (The main exception being chop salads at Bethe on Saturday nights–all time favorite on-campus food.)

both their foods have good and bad days. becker DEFINITELY has better breakfast deserts. you are free to go to any of the house dining halls so it really doesn’t matter which has better food. eventually you’ll get tired of your houses’ food and will go try others and mix it up a bit.
