All 9th, 10th, And 11th Graders Must Read!!

no matter what
never give up.
SERIOUSLY
you can go back & search all my threads
my gpa isnt too hot
my sat/sat II scores could def be improved

but so far I have gotten into the top 5 journalism schools in the country
+ UCLA.

dreams come true, fate will take its course.
seriously do NOT give up. work hard. and it will all pay off.

<33333

my message:
don't set your heart on one school.... APPLY to a lot of colleges and aim for a couple of them... admissions are random and you WILL get rejected sometimes even though you deserve admission... people with lower stats WILL get in, it happens... there ARE always options after rejection... you CAN transfer... you can go THERE for grad school... most importantly: NEVER GIVE UP!

thanks carebear, your message was short but to the point. countless times, people have told me i will not get into top 20 colleges but i always try to brush them off and just keep doing my perssonal best!

Ohmigosh, you have made me feel so much better. You must have had a really strong essay and list of extracurriculars, not that your stats suck. It's just that I get so intimidated with all these 4.5s and 2200s. I seriously wish I could hug you for giving me hope about UCLA, and I am also applying to journalism schools like Northwestern.

how did you get into UCLA?
you must have a superhook in journalism or something

my 10th grade GPA was 2.8
and UC does all the capping/not allowing retakes etc..
my UC GPA will never be more than 3.4
I feel like i have no hope
From what people here say, even a 2400 couldn't save me
please give me hope :(

subsidon: I'm going to be brutally honest. A 2.8, weighted or unweighted is *e. So is a 3.4, well, not *e, but definitely not best UCs-caliber. You can go to UCLA if you do well in college and transfer, but otherwise, cross your fingers and hope to God a kind person recieves your application and appreciates the upward trend.

Good post.

The admission process is definitely haphazard to some degree. I was going to only apply to HYP, but now it would appear that it'd be too perilous of an option. Apply to at least 10 schools, and you are bound to get in some of them (even if you applied to Ivy Leagues and so).
