Ok, I've been accepted (yay!). Now I want to know:
what you like about U of Illinois,
what you don't,
the inside info on the dorms (what each is known for, like partying or studying),
is Urbana-Champagin a fun place,
the greek life,
and any other useful bits of info.

Please, help me out here! I know that U of Illinois has top-notch academics, but it's expensive (i'm OoS) and there are other public universities that seem to be better organized.

bump i want to know these things too!!
do urbana-champaign have a lot of good restaurants?
are their professors nice at grading us? is it really hard to maintain a good gpa?
thanks

At U of I, there is always something to do and get involved in. You will never be bored. One thing U of I could improve better in is a couple of the buildings really need to be repaired (like Lincoln hall) but they are working on it (but with the budget debacle, its been slow), but on the flip side, some of the older buildings are really cool to be in. Altgeld hall (math) always reminds me of Hogwarts when I walk in, Ha Ha.
For dorms, I'm currently in Illini Tower, no complaints, its bigger than most dorms, it has 2 bedrooms for 4 people. The six pack from what I've heard is more of a party area. Don't know much else on that aspect. Urbana-Champaign itself, as long as you stay on campus, it is a fun town since there's usually events at Assembly Hall, plus the bars and such, but once you step outside of the campus area its all farms. There are some good restaurants in what I call the "downtown campus" area (by the corner of neil and wright) and in that area they have a noodles and co, chipotle, starbucks, dunkin donuts, urban outfitter, jimmy johns, etc. For grading, it all depends on the professor, some are generous in their curve, some are more stringent. GPA.... lets just say its not difficult to be passing, but not easy to maintain a great GPA.
