I was on the Penn website and I saw that a student must submit all scores recieved on the SAT or ACT to the university with their application. I took the ACT as a sophomore and scored a 28 and retook it in the beginning of my junior year and scored a 33. If I take the test once or twice more, will this hurt me as I took it several times? or that i scored low on my first administration as a sophomore? Should I even retake the ACT, as my score may go down?

Penn, like most colleges, accepts your highest combined scores. If you take the SAT three times and wind up with scores 750/500/600, 560/800/700, and 550/590/780, for all intents and purposes you have a 750/800/780. If you take the ACT again and get a 21, the only score that will matter will still be the 33. If you take it and get a 35, then that is the only score that will matter.

chrisw i can tell you are extremely intelligent (obviously) but would that apply for SAT IIs as well? Say I get a poor score in SAT II for world history, if I retake it and get a better score, that’s the only one that counts, right? What if I decide not to take it, but take 3 other SAT IIs, and do well on them. Will Penn still look at my world history score or only use my three best, even though they are from 3 different tests. Please, your input is so greatly appreciated

Penn requires three SAT II scores? I have two 800’s but an absolute horrendous world history score.
