I’d like to know your stats, and what you thought the biggest factor in your acceptance was.

I could be forgetting some stuff, but i don't really remember

I was recruited for soccer, so I'm guessing that that was a huge factor in my acceptance...as is the case with most schools; soccer was a huge (the biggest) EC for me as well. Hope this helps

dude, you rock hard. 20 hrs soccer/wk? shiznit.

well, this year it wasn't as crazy because we are done with the recruiting process...but during the recruiting process..we'd practice 2-3 times a week and travel every weekend so the hours added up, it was pretty intense depending on the season haha

1500/800/720/720
96.8 W avg (steadily dropping)
was ranked 3, dropped to 4 (accelerating downwards) (but hey, our valedictorian was waitlisted at Amherst)

passions in english/languages, visual arts, neuro, which reflected into the types of honors/service/ECs I did. Tri-varsity athlete.

Asian, female, NY.

Applied at very last minute, somewhat unwillingly and carelessly. The dean commented on my essay (or was it a generic letter that everyone got?), though; I re-read it and decided it wasn't as horrible as I thought it was.

Um... still hesitant... I didn't like my fall overnight visit at Amherst, but I received a full ride (as opposed to having to take out 1,600 in loans for Wellesley or 2,625 in loans for Swat... yes, I'm dirt poor). Mainly I'm worried about the strength of Amherst's art department and its setting.

OK guys, enough. When everyone is joining each others mutual admiration society and reassuring each other that "of course you'll get in" the posting of stats was about the only substantive information we all had to share.

Except for the few who thought Yale made a great safety to Harvard and now are trying to donate an airport to Amherst to gain admission, we are all accepted students. Now that we are 3 weeks past D-Day the matriculation decisions should also be complete.

All of our stats are wonderful and most important, adequate for the purpose of gaining admissions. You must also concede that they NO LONGER MEAN ANYTHING TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN.

Time to hit the re-set button and move on.

nbachris2788, the OP, was the one who asked. maybe this info will be helpful to future applicants...? and you also get a sense of who your potential classmates would be. but i agree, SATs and GPAs and APs are meaningless at this point.

honestly, I agree with you gizmo. Nevertheless, these stats (not Chances) threads were quite helpful for me when I was making my college selection. As allure said, maybe other people will be interested to see the raw numbers and stuff like that. I used to ask myself what it takes to get into a certain college - while I know that every applicant is unique and is wholistically examined, I think such a thread can be actually instructive for someone who wants to figure out the general level of competition.
These being said, yeah, I know, the SAT is BS, luckily I won't ever have to deal with it again.

This report has the stats of applicants, admitted and matriculated students.

Lets prospective applicants see what the competition looks like.
