I'm a sophomore right now, and my schedule for this year is: Honors Bio, Algebra 3-4, French 3-4, reg Physics, Honors LA, World History.
I've been thinking about what classes to take, and a thought popped in my head that I can maybe take pre-calc, french 5-6 and chemistry over the summer, so I can be a bit ahead when school starts, and by doing so allows me to have a schedule like this for my junior year:
AP Lang, APUSH, AP CompSci, AP French, AP Chem, and AP Calc.
Does this sound reasonable/doable? Or am I out of my mind?
*of course, I'll have to see if I can actually take those classes over the summer, so this is just a plan.

well it looks like you didn’t take any ap in sophomore. Going from 0 to 5 AP may be a big transition but honestly when i look back at my junior year (6 AP) it wasn’t even that bad.

how good are you? Com sci can be a joke. Calc can be simple.

@junsu95227 well that’s because the only AP class for sophomores at my school is AP Econ, but I chose to double up in science instead, so couldn’t do any AP class.
@wcao9311 by what way do you mean how good I am? As in time management wise: I finish my homework right now pretty quickly. As in skill wise: I get As in all my classes right now so I would say it’s not bad.

Work your butt off, you can handle it.

take the about of homework you have multiply it by 2.

@wcao9311 if that is the case, then it’s not really that much since the amount of homework I have right now is not too bad. I can finish it in about 1+ hour.

It should be 2-3 times as much, 4 times would be a bit too much.

@wcao9311 Ok that sounds manageable I guess. My friends think I’m crazy and insane to take all AP classes.

I don’t see any reason you couldn’t, but you should talk to kids who are in those classes at your school, and see what they think. Try to talk to students who you think are comparable to you and who are managing several AP classes. It will probably be a big step up from what you are doing now and it might be safer to be less ambitious rather than risk doing poorly. People on this site can’t really advise you as well because AP classes can involve different amounts of work at different schools. Also, 3 classes is a lot to take over the summer.

@mathyone I’ll definitely do that!
Well it’s really just 2 classes since the french class I don’t really have to ‘take’. I just need to read the materials and do the exercises on my own to be prepared for AP French if I want to skip a year. But no formal class required. That just leaves chem and pre-calc as actual classes to take over the summer.

One side question, does it look strange that I jump from French 3-4 to AP French? Do they care that I didn’t actually take 4 year language or does it only matter that I took AP French?

AP French can be considered the 4th year in some schools. But why are some of your classes named with 3-4/5-6? I’m confused.

@Animefan1998 In there school, classes are probably named by semester, so Algebra I is Algebra 1-2 (First and Second Semester of Algebra), Algebra 2 > Algebra 3-4, French 2 > French 3-4, etc.
