So what major did you apply for ....? Did you already get accepted ? Did you get a likely?

I applied to animal sciences and got my acceptance letter in the mail last Thursday - it is still not online, so don't bother checking now. You can see my stats here (copied and pasted from the "Official Cornell Class of 2019 RD Results" post):

States:

* SAT I: 2000 (Reading - 690, Math - 650, Writing - 660)
* SAT IIs: Molecular Biology - 760, Math 2 - 660, Literature - 680
* ACT: 33 (Reading - 36, English - 34, Science 32, Math - 30, English/Writing - 33, Writing - 10)
* GPA: 3.86 uw, 4.7 w
* Rank: 13/572
* Other stats: 5 on AP Biology Exam

Subjective:

* Essays: I thought my common app essay was strong - it dealt with my time in band, but was more emotional than subjective. No real plot, just moving words about what my experience has meant to me. I believe I sounded unique and human. My Cornell supplement essays - I thought they were average.
* Teacher Recs: From my AP Biology teacher and my Honors Pre-Calc/Honors Senior Capstone teacher. I thought a recommendation from a math teacher my neutralize a glaring, low grade in BC Calc. I read the Bio one before it was sent, and I thought it was very good. Note: I applied to animal science.
* Counselor Rec: Well, I don't trust my counselor much, but I read the rec and it was great.
* Hook (if any): Major involvement in band including leadership, drum major, section leader, 1st chair clarinet for 2 years, involvement in National Concert Band Festival and Midwest International Clinic, District Honor Band for 5 years, All-State Band, and superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble. Also a marine biology internship for 2 summers in which I collected behavioral/population research data on a whale watch boat as well as performed public education.

Location/Person:

* State or Country: Ohio
* School Type: Public (2 students in the last 2 years from my school currently attend Cornell)
* Ethnicity: White (don't think I put that on the application)
* Gender: Female
* Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths ~ leadership, high grades, strong biology background, internship. Weaknesses ~ D- in BC Calculus (though I'm not sure they got my mid-year report before accepting me)
* Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: See strengths above. Not the strongest student, but overall a good picture. I think they got the sense that I am independent and self-motivated.

Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
Not sure if I will attend, but I am very excited to be accepted to an IVY!!!
