So according to vsauce we are all blood related and our latest common ancestor is someone from Taiwan. Discuss.

This also means that we are all related to Miley Cyrus.

Nope not true. We may all be of the same species and such but we aren’t really related. Also, this could spark many religious turmoils and may I inquire what scientific knowledge can prove that? There’re strong contradictions disapproving this idea. Thus concluding that this isn’t true.

Wait, I thought that this was an accepted fact? That through looking at DNA they’ve found a single male and a single female ancestor (although the 2 lived a long time apart). Is this not true?

It’s sounds like you’re talking about Adam and Eve for some reason but I know you aren’t. Though we all have different blood types because there’re some pathogens immune systems are immune to depending on blood type. We don’t share blood that’s so ridiculous. Maybe once before but not now.

If we ever were all related (and it wasn’t when the first humans evolved) then surely we’d all still be related?? It’s entirely possible for things like blood type to have developed or mutated since then, I mean we are talking about a very long time ago.

We are related because we all belong to the Kingdom Animalia.

Guys, really? EVOLUTION. We are all related, meaning we all have a common ancestor. But, EVOLUTION has caused diversity.

Does that mean I get an invitation to Kimye’s wedding?

Does that mean marrying Josh Hutcherson would be incestuous.

@Keys
Umm… Yeah. Ok, I believe some of us knew that. That still doesn’t justify us all having the same BLOOD. Blood transfusions, why we all have different blood types. It makes sense and refutes the idea that we share blood. As said before, we were all equal in some way a long time ago but it started to branch off because of DNA related reasons. I don’t know, but where’s the scientific argument that supports we share the same blood? Am I missing something or what?

I don’t recall anyone saying that we had the same blood type. All I can see is someone saying:

That doesn’t mean that we all share the same blood. Blood relatives is just a term that means that you’re related by birth (like a sibling, parent, cousin, etc), rather than by marriage (husband, in-laws, step-family). I think you just misinterpreted the phrase “blood relatives.” I’m pretty sure everyone on this thread is aware that we don’t all literally have the same blood running through us.

Wouldn’t the only alternative be that two different groups of modern humans evolved completely separately from one another and still managed to end up the same? Isn’t that kind of implausible?

And we’re related by birth (however distantly) to every other life form, right?

I don’t know…I never understood biology.

“So according to vsauce we are all blood related”
“That doesn’t mean that we all share the same blood.”

How could anyone interpret that a different way

P.S. If you watch the vsauce video, it explains it pretty well.

Basically you have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-great grandparents, etc. etc., right? So if you go back 64 generations then you would need to have more separate ancestors living at ONE time than any amount of humans TOTAL have ever lived. So no one can be genetically pure.

…so…

…am I invited or no?

I watched the video. He said there’s like a 1/50 chance that you’re related to someone else. I’m still not gonna believe it because I hate the idea. Sorry, but accepting that isn’t gonna happen. For all he knows, it might as well be a theory. His scientific evidence is weak, considering the fact that he got some of the information from an unreliable source cough Yahoo answers.

How could we not be related to every other person, though?

I know we are. I just don’t like the idea. At all.

Whether or not you like it is irrelevant. It’s true.

Lol, why??
