All I can say is WOW!

I'm a parent, new to these boards and I am floored by the credentials of the HS students that post here. I thought my daughter did exceptionly well (1410 SAT, 3.8 unweighted GPA), but in reading this, I see that there are a lot of really smart, well rounded teens around.
Congrats to you all, eveyone should be very proud. Those people that worry about the youth of today and the future of this country should check out these boards.
Good luck to everyone!

You do realize that the people who post here are a small percentage.

Most people here have a +1350 SAT I score, and thats less than 4 percent of all people who took the SAT. So only a small fragment of tomorrows youth has achieved high scores.

plus, half the people probably lie about their scores :p

people would have to have absolute no life to lie about their scores

cant you argue that people with a 4.0 gpa and 1600 SAT have no life?

see my point?

most of the people I know in school with these stats are self-absorbed and willing to do anything and everything to make themselves look better - including but not limited to, lying

not to say everybody does, but it no-doubt happens here

Your S's stats are exceptional. It simply makes sense that people who congregate at a message board concerning college have higher stats.

Anarchy24, i don't c your point at all! ppl with 1600 and 4.0 are the ppl who often enjoy life, not in the ways most ppl would like (lying on a couch, belly hanging out, mouth stuffed with over cheesy nachoes), i hardly call that having a life, ppl with 1600 and 4.0 are ppl with exceptional organization skills, they probably have the best lives helping the needy and volunteer works. so i really don't c your point!

while lying probably goes on, I don't see the point to it. If you want an accurate response from other people on this board, why would you lie? How would that help you?

define the "best life." in my opinion, helping out welfare-mooching people is not a great life. volunteering while you could be getting better educated or bettering society on a larger scale is not the "best life." I dont understand how anyone can say "i sure love helping out bums. much more than relaxing with my friends on a friday night."

Also, most people with 4.0s and 1600s are pretty much near-geniuses. although a chunk of them are also bookworms who like to work hard and take prep courses for the SAT. they're just dumb *******s.

"Anarchy24, i don't c your point at all! ppl with 1600 and 4.0 are the ppl who often enjoy life, not in the ways most ppl would like (lying on a couch, belly hanging out, mouth stuffed with over cheesy nachoes), i hardly call that having a life, ppl with 1600 and 4.0 are ppl with exceptional organization skills, they probably have the best lives helping the needy and volunteer works"

1600/4.0 ppl are dumb and im glad im not one of them it makes me laugh when people are mad at sportstars getting in Harvard or wutever with 1100/3.0 becuz they waste their time getting the 1600/4.0 and end up getting denied

1600/4.0 ppl are not dumb!!! HOW CAN THEY B DUMB!!??? If you got a 1600 and a 4.0 you wouldnt call urself dumb and i bet ud be bragging about it all day long! However ppl with low sats and low GPAs arent dumb either...maybe they have better qualities then those with perfect scores, maybe they are nicer and happier ppl...but either ways.. DUMB isnt the word for either

lolok- Although i agree with the idea that "best life" is hard to do define, you really need to take a poly sci course. You obviously have no idea how these "bums" got to be in the places they are, and the harrassment they face every day. Here's a nice fact for ya: Most of the homeless are children. I'd urge you not to run up the next 7-year-old kid you see on the street and call him a "welfare moocher."

too bad for him. his parents mad a big mistake. I dont believe it is our job or the government's job to fix people like that. if they are truly there to do something great in the world, they will. Darwin's theory. forget about it.

"If you got a 1600 and a 4.0 you wouldnt call urself dumb and i bet ud be bragging about it all day long!"

Heck ya i would be bragging!!! i just meant that the people who sit at home studying and get 1600s are dumb but not mentally dumb... dumb in a different way for wanting to study....I'd rather be a really smart guy than a crazed studier

lolok- That's the most selfish thing I've ever heard. The next generation truly is in peril if that's how the "educated" of society think.

lolok:

Get a friggin' grip. You don't sound smart with your mentioning of "Darwin's Theory" or deeming geniuses with high marks on college entrance exams. You just sound like an ignorant jerk.

I agree with ElCommando. People place to much importance on purely academic intelligence. ie People of average intelligence but who spend their lives studying and worrying about college admissions get all the chances, while very bright people not willing to waste their lives on academics, are dismissed by top schools.
That is definitely a problem with our education system, and we need to go to the root of it and change this quickly. Otherwise before long our society will be ruled by dumb geeks (please excuse the term), and our smartest will be driving buses and cleaning out the garbage.

I'm not trying to sound smart. If i was trying to sound smart, i'd write a thesis. If im ignorant, ignorance is bliss and im loving it. shut up.

Are you saying that only people with 1600 4.0 are able to volunteer? Also, many many people with 1600 and 4.0 happen to test well. There are some very very smart people that don't have 4.0 and 1600, who do extradinary volunteer work and service are very orgnanized but don't fit into the CollegeBoard mold of intelligent. Suprise- many people lead wonderful fullfilling balanced lives who did not score "perfect" on some tests made up by a small group of people who decided what was important. That said:

Lolok1214- you are the saddest person I have heard in a long time. I hope you never get hurt and there is noone to take care of you, or I hope your parents are never taken away and you are suddenly alone, or that you don't get laid off suddenly and can't pay your rent and are on the street, because with your arrogant, I am better than everyone attitude, noone will help or step up for you. Bad things sometimes happen, and people need help. You obviously think so little of yourself that you can not spare some of your time and energy to help others. All I can do is hope you grow up and mature, no matter what your age is now.

Yeah. You guys read it. Where is the love?

Someone just congratulated everybody on their great scores, and somehow 1600s get pounced on.

Yes. Perfect scorers/overachievers might not have a real life. They might have a real life too. Everyone has a chance to volunteer. Everyone has a chance to make the perfect score too.

There's a difference between tearing others down to build your way to the top, and building others up to succeed.

Some people are just naturally gifted, or just work their a$$e$ off to get good grades. I personally know that I can spend just 2 hours a day on homework, and that's if I take my time, and still maintain my valedictorian/salutorian status even though I'm taking 15 hours of college classes and a full HS schedule.

Remember this: CHARACTER is what you do when no one is watching.

So you guys: Don't be a bunch of sour grapes. Get some heavy metal all the way up, and tackle your calc homework! Crap...I forgot about that....LOL.

So chill out you guys!
